| The Woonsockets did not enter their engine, It being to ancient. A south-west wind which was favorable for the first two engines prevailed at the start. A cross and variable wind followed by a tempest seriously affected the Col. Ellsworth, Red Jackets and Chauncy. Then the conditions improved and the last dozen engines had a fair wind with the conditions very favorable for good playing. The Newtons won $250.00; Brocktons, $150.00; Pawtuckets, $100.00 and Salems, $50.00. the Central Falls the silver trumpet given by Mayor Parker and the New Bedfords the Silver Pitcher given by the Board of Trade, while the Bostons secured the consolation prize a Silver Chafing Dish the gift of A.P.
