Alarm Box 25
This unusual cast iron box came
with 8 other alarm pieces from an upstate New York collection.
Larger than today's street boxes, it measures 18" tall by 12" wide by 8"
deep. The door has 2 side by side
2½" diameter holes. The back side of
door has a slotted holder behind each hole.
These holders appear to be able to hold a 3" square bit of glass.
The top back of the roof has an outlet with 3/4" pipe thread.
The back side of the box has 5 mounting holes and the bottom of the box
has several inlet holes. It is not
signed and we have not been able to identify this box.
It is possible that it is not an alarm box, although our upstate NY
source claims it is.
